It’s no secret that I am NOT a morning person. Combine that fact, with the daily struggle of a baby who has an aversion to sleep and getting 4 kids up, dressed, fed, and out the door before 6:15am… Well, let’s just say things can get quite hectic. Overtime, I’ve learned to prioritize and have a few #Momwins tips I live by, to help our mornings move along more smoothly.
Prepare the night before. OK, so I’m not a morning person, but I am a night owl and have learned to focus all that extra energy into making my mornings brighter.
- Prepare and pack lunches in the evening.
- Agree upon and layout the following days wardrobe, right down to the socks.
- Backpacks, jackets, and shoes all go by the door. This has saved us loads of time! I can’t tell you how many mornings we've been late because we were searching for that missing shoe that my daughter swore she left "right here."
- Showers, baths… both evening activities.
A few minutes for mom. Wake up at least 15 minutes before you plan on waking up the kids. Giving yourself time to wake up and maybe enjoy a cup of coffee before the hustle and bustle of the day begins, can do wonders improving your patience, and overall mood.
Bedtime makes a difference. Sticking with a bedtime not only helps your child's body keep to a schedule, but it can be the difference between a sweet child who takes it upon themselves to go brush their teeth and one who you’re dragging out of bed.
We do our best to get all our kids to bed within a certain time frame Monday – Friday, but kids will be kids and some nights our a little tougher than others. This is certainly the hardest “tip” to follow.
Breakfast made easy. I would love to be the mom that has pancakes, eggs and maybe even a little french toast all cooked up and waiting when my little guys and girl wake. But, I am not! And I believe that there is a reason it is named breakfast.
Breakfast is an extremely important meal, and sometimes I feel guilty that I don’t have the time to always make them a nutritious and homemade breakfast. But I do feel good about some faster options that they love. And mom always wins with El Monterey Signature breakfast burritos!
