Silk'n Blue: Acne Treatment without the Creams or Prescriptions #SilknProducts #MC

"I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Mom Central for Silk'n Blue.. I received a device to thank me for my participation and facilitate this review.”

There aren’t many things I have in common with my teenage son these days, but one thing we do share is bad skin. As a teen I didn’t have very many issues beyond the norm, but as I got older it seemed as if my hormones underwent a complete makeover and each month I spend two weeks fighting breaking outs and hiding beneath a veil of makeup – I know this isn’t the best way to help keep my skin clear and control breakouts.

Prescription creams and medications always seemed a little excessive to me, especially knowing how harmful some can be to women of childbearing age and OTC creams didn’t seem to make a huge difference, smelt bad, and dried out my already over irritated skin. Even my son refuses OTC treatments because of the chemical smell and how harsh they are on his skin. So what options did we really have left other than good facial cleansing and hoping for the best? Well, there was actually was a better option left, blue light treatment with Silk’n Blue.

Silk’n Blue offers an alternative way to treat acne, from the comfort of your home. This hand-held device harnesses a combination of gentle synergistic power of fractional blue light (same as what is used in dermatologists offices) and a built-in temperature sensor, that not only kills the nasty acne-causing bacteria on your skin, but it also helps heal existing pimples quickly by neutralizing bacteria immediately to prevent future breakouts. No harsh medications to take, no trips to the dermatologist, and no drying creams!

Silk’n Blue is available in a single package including: unit, charger, and stand. Use is simple, while slightly time consuming. For maximum benefit Silk’n Blue should be used daily during the course of your acne breakout for about 6 to 8 weeks.

After charging the hand-held device, all you have to do is press the button, which turns it on, wait a second for the steady light and direct the blue light to each of your pimples/affected areas for 3 or 4 minutes. The blue light will appear once the device has come into contact with the skin, within a few seconds you’ll also note some heat.

For an area such as the face it can take up to 20 minutes to complete a treatment. I chose to do one treatment a day, in the mornings, after my shower, when I had some extra time. Maintenance treatments are recommended weekly once you’ve gotten your breakouts under control, making treatments a lot easier to fit into your schedule. I’ve also found using it while watching a little T.V makes treatment time go a little faster.

You can use the Silk’n Blue to treat your face, chest, back, or anywhere you’re prone to breakouts. The device is not painful, but you will feel a slight warmth on your skin while preforming a treatment and mild redness may occur.

Overall, I found myself surprised. After about 6 weeks of treatment when the “time” rolled around, my skin was significantly clearer and I’ve notice a great reduction in the life of those rouge pimples that pop up, when I immediately treat them with the blue light. My son has also been using the device and prefers it greatly to the OTC creams he was previously using. The only issue I’ve come across with him is commitment. As with anything else mom needs to remind him to do his treatments!

The Silk’n Blue is FDA-approved and Health Canada-cleared. If you’re currently using a physician prescribed AHA, BHA, Reitn-A, topical retinoids or azelaic acid or have been treated with Accutane (isotretinoiin) within the past 6 months, consult a physician before use.

This surely sounds like a product I could use, and I will soon have teenagers in the house as well. I sure hope they have their dad's skin type though.

This is such a good product because it can get rid of acne without all of the side affects of medications or the excessive dryness from the chemicals in some acne products/

This really is neat. I had not heard of this before. I love that it kills the bacteria too. Thanks for sharing! It is nice to know about the options out there. Rita Spratlen
