It’s been seven years since we’ve had a baby in the house and a lot has changed in the time. Not only have products changed by my thought process has changed a lot as well. When I first found out I was pregnant with my 5th child and 4th son, I knew immediately what changes I wanted to make compared to how I had previously done some things. Back when my older children were babies things like making my own baby food seemed too complicated and I was still very much in the mind set of, “I ate it, why can’t they”? Well you know what they say “times they are a changing” and today preparing your own baby food couldn’t be any simpler or more satisfying.
The Cuisinart Baby® Food Maker is simplicity at its finest. With this powerful machine I am able to steam, chop, and puree the freshest and must nutritious ingredients, providing the best for my baby at all times; and in no time flat! I love that I have the control. I’ve learned over the years that convenience is not always your friend. It’s a great feeling not worrying about what hidden ingredients you child maybe consuming. I get to make the right choices for my baby from the start making sure all our ingredients are fresh and natural. And really I’m not sacrificing a lot. Cuisinart’s generous 4-cup work bowl produces large batches of vegetables, meats and even fruits that I can freeze into cubes using my ice cube trays and save for later use.
The difference between grabbing a "cube" and grabbing a jar? I know it’s fresh and good for my baby!
Make baby food in 3 simple steps, first steam raw ingredients by using the integrated measuring cup to add the right amount of water. Next start by first chopping the ingredients then puree for quick and easy baby food with a perfectly smooth consistency every time!

- 8 ounces plain yogurt
- 1 ounce mango purée
- 1 ounce peach purée
- 1/2 banana
Place ingredients in work bowl of Cuisinart® food processor. Process for 15 seconds and scrape work bowl. Process again until desired consistency is reached. Serve or store immediately.
Sounds pretty simple, right? It is! And what I really love is you can get as creative as you desire. My older kids have been enjoying some banana apple puree and last night we made fresh applesauce to go with dinner!
Wash apples well; rinse under cool running water, dry, and peel. Next, slice your apple into two halves and core; slice cored apple into chunks. Steam fruit for 15 minutes, until extremely soft. Place steamed fruit into the Cuisinart® food processor and process for 15 to 20 seconds. Scrape work bowl. Process for 10 more seconds.
What’s nice about applesauce is it’s extremely versatile. I can leave it plain for baby or add an additional fruit for variety and for my older kids I can add a touch of cinnamon and sugar for a tasty treat!
