With a new baby on the way, the last thing on my list of needs was a travel system. And it wasn’t left for last on accident. A good travel system is one of the most important items on a moms' must-have list. And as a mom of four already, I had very specific needs when it came to what I wanted in a travel system. I wanted a system that was light weight, simple to use, had some style, and most importantly kept baby safe and comfortable. And just like magic, I was introduced to the Urbini Touri Travel System and it couldn’t have been a better match. I could almost swear this system was tailor made with my needs in mind.
The Urbini Touri Travel System features a light-weight baby stroller, that’s ready to roll when you are, and matching infant petal car seat in a variety of colors to match your style. Right from the box setup was a breeze - any new parent knows, the last thing you want is one more thing that takes hours to construct.
I snapped on the rear wheels, attached the cup holder and we were ready to roll. The real test for me, however, was how easy the stroller would be for me to open, access, and store, with a baby and 4 other children in tow. The stroller is quality, yet light weight enough for a single hand, and it maneuvers with ease. I was always that mom crashing the stroller because the wheels never seem to turn properly. Has anyone else noticed that? Not an issue with my Urbini. And I love how compact it is! I can easily store it, fold it up one handed, and toss it in the trunk.
The under carriage has a mesh storage area large enough for a few odds and ends, but it's a little difficult to simply toss in something like a diaper bag. This being a compact stroller, however, it's nice that some type of storage was include. The multi-position reclining seat makes it perfect for children of all stages and the tuck away sun visor is perfect here in sunny Florida, were shade and sun protection is a must!
The Urbini Infant Petal Car Seat makes the perfect companion to the stroller. I can take my new infant right from the car, in his seat, and snap it right into the stroller without ever disturbing him. Getting the seat to lock into position was a little tricky for me the first few times, but once you have the feel for it, you’re a pro. Note: You must use the removable arm bar when attaching the car seat to the stroller.
Although I was highly impressed with the stroller, it was the car seat that ultimately won, not only me over, but the NICU nurses as well. My baby was born at 35 weeks and spent sometime in the NICU, meaning before he was released he had to undergo a car seat “stress test” of sorts. The Urbini Petal Infant Car Seat is designed for an infant from 4-35 lbs and up to 35" tall, and comes included with body support and removable preemie insert. My head was still spinning by the time my little guy was ready to be released from the hospital and I was just so excited to get him home, I didn’t look into how to install the preemie insert. I just brought it with me thinking surely the NICU nurses would know what it was for and how to use it. Well, they didn’t. In fact, they had never saw one before. But, by the time we left, they were in love with the Urbini and telling all the other nurses about the wonderful preemie insert and how beneficial it was. And of course, my baby passed his car seat test with flying colors
The car seat weighs less than 8lbs and is so much easier for me to carry than any other infant seats I've owned. It’s also much easier for me to remove. The simple one button pull release is great for allowing me to get my baby out quickly in busy parking lot situations, when my attention also needs to be focused on my other children. I don’t have time to fumble around trying to get the car seat apart from the base. And for those of you who might catch a ride from a friend or travel by taxi from time to time, this seat also works and complies with safety standards without use of the base. When in use with the base though, there is a 2-position base recline foot and level indicator to help confirm that the car seat is installed at the correct level.
As I said earlier making sure the seat was safe was a top concern of mine. The Urbini Touri isn’t just the best travel system for us, but I am secure in knowing it meets and/or exceeds U.S. Standard FMVSS213, it was rigorously crash and side-impact tested and it features deep sidewalls lined with an extended layer of energy-absorbing foam.
