The Five-Step System of Finding the Perfect Purse

It goes wherever you go. It contains many of your most important things, including your pocketbook, identification, car keys and makeup kit. In most cases, it is fashionable, but you primarily need it to be functional. Your purse is like your best friend, which is why choosing the perfect purse can become an overwhelming process. Keep things simple by following a quick five-step system.

Focus on the Size First

When it comes to finding the perfect size, you are going to have to think about function more than fashion. What exactly are you going to put in your purse? Are you just purchasing it as a cute accessory to go with a classy outfit or do you actually need it for storage purposes? A general rule of thumb is that, for storage purposes, a small bag can only hold up to 10 items and a large bag starts at about 20, according to Yahoo. Knowing exactly which size you need is the first steppingstone that you will cross by following this system.

Pay Attention to the Color

Even if you are purchasing a purse specifically for functional purposes, you still want to make sure that it is at least a little fashionable. Keep in mind that you are going to be carrying it around with you wherever you go regardless of what you are wearing. You might have multiple purses that you can switch around based on your outfits. However, the color choice is always going to be important. Make sure that you choose a color that is visually appealing instead of repulsive. If you are known for wearing neutral outfits, a boldly-colored purse may be exactly what you need to spice things up a bit, according to In Style.

Pick Your Favorite Shape

As you more than likely know already, different purses come in different sizes as well as shapes. You can feel free to choose whichever shape is your favorite as long as it does compromise your function or visually clash with your outfit. Even though you might love the red octagon purse that looks like a small “STOP” sign, you may need to yield and go in a different direction instead if it does not flow with your needs functionally or fashionably.

Find the Right Price

If you love high-end purses but hate to pay high-end prices, then you need to become a skilled and expert bargain hunter. Search online and in store advertisements for promotional codes, coupons and deals. You might be surprised to find out that your favorite stores with designer bags and accessories offers coupons and discounted specials to their loyal customers. For example, there are many consumers that enjoy shopping for high-end designer purses and handbags from major retailers, such as Vera Bradley, simply because they are assured of the quality that they will receive. These items can be pricey, but with Vera Bradley coupons, you can get a low-end price on a high-end accessory. Always keep your eyes open for discounts, coupons and sales.

Do Not Underestimate Quality

There are not very many women who enjoy being forced to replace their purses frequently throughout the year due to excessive wear-and-tear. Replacing a purse as part of your own free will is great, but replacing it because the one that you just bought last week fell apart yesterday is a fashion and financial no-no. Focus on purchasing a high-quality bag that is going to last. You may end up paying a little more money than you wanted to upfront, but at least you know that you will get your money’s worth in the end. After all, paying twice as much for a purse that lasts five times as long is a worthwhile investment!

Picking your favorite shape, is the most important to me; if it if is not a pleasing shape, I won't be in love with it, or use it :)

I always make sure it has a place for my cell phone that is easy to get to. I also make sure it has a zip closer or one that everything won't spill out if I drop it, nothing more embarrassing than picking up the contents of your purse in the middle of a store. Pockets are also important for me. I need one for inhalers and meds, one for a pen or pencil, one for coupons, and one for a comb or makeup.

When we were traveling to New York to see my Dr.s I loved shopping on Canal Street for purses, now I stick to on-line ordering.

These are all such good points to consider! I first select based on shape and size, then look at the additional features.

I have to get the right size purse for me or I will not like it. I do not like small purses. I need a lot of room for my purse. I like dark colors because they are easy to clean. And I do not want a purse that is too cheap because I have had a cheap purse fall apart rather quickly!
