Hands-On Learning with K'NEX Educational Sets (Review & Giveaway)

It’s always nice to add a little educational fun under the tree. This October K’NEX released an amazing new line of educational K’NEX sets including: : INVESTIGATING SOLAR ENERGY, SIMPLE AND COMPOUND MACHINES, EXPLORING WIND & WATER ENERGY and FORCE & NEWTON’S LAWS.

"I am a K'NEX Ambassador. Product(s) were sent to me to help facilitate this review. All opinions are my own and yours may differ."
In these educational sets children will get to experience first-hand cause and action from their own creations. We recently had the opportunity to check out two of these sets and had a lot of fun this past weekend with solar energy.
“Go green and bring STEM concepts to life with the K'NEX® Investigating Solar Energy Set! Designed to address critical science, technology and engineering concepts in the middle school classroom and provide instructional models that will enhance students' understanding of these important concepts.”
Compiled in a sturdy green storage bin each set is complete with a teacher’s guide, allowing you to offer your child structured learning and play time that uses hands-on exploration with an engaging inquiry-based approach to learning.

With our guide by our side we set out to create a car run off of solar power and took the time to learn what solar power is and how it works.

The K’NEX Solar Energy Set included 128 K'NEX® parts – enough to build 6 renewable energy models, two at a time. Building instructions & comprehensive teacher's guide aligned to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Standards included.

It didn’t take us long to get our included solar panel’s “charged” up and our first creation built. It was a joy to see my children’s face light up with wonder as there car came to life; a rewarding experience not only in education, but in hard work. It was a pleasant surprise to see that something they created was now powered and motoring across the floor.

Buy It: Available at Knex.com and select online toy retailers for the SRP of $64.99

Win It: Bring educational play to your home this holiday season making a great gift for a teacher or student, K'NEX would like to offer one lucky reader the The K'NEX® Education Simple and Compound Machines Building Set.
"Designed to expand upon middle school student's knowledge of simple machines concepts. Students investigate, explore and experiment with the K'NEX® simple machine models as they analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information. The Teacher's guide includes Student Inquiry Sheets and Worksheets for the models highlighted. Student Worksheets ask questions about the machine being investigated and present challenges that can be used to help students think more deeply about the concepts involved."

Set includes 352K'NEX® parts – enough to build 16 fully-functioning replicas of real-world machines, one at a time! Supports 1-2 students. Grades 5 - 9. Building instructions and comprehensive teacher's guide aligned to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Standards included. Packaged in a strong storage tub with snap-on lid.
