There is something about the holidays and all the sweet treats we bring to the table. This year Ghirardelli’s new Premium Candy Making & Dipping Wafers and Premium Hot Cocoas are helping making our holiday table a little a brighter.
Ghirardelli’s Premium Candy Making & Dipping Wafers bring with them so many options when it comes to holiday baking. Packaged in re-sealable pouches, these wafers can be melted in the microwave and even reheated. From creating the most decedent candies to dipping strawberries, it doesn’t get much better than Ghirardelli Wafers. And unlike regular chocolate, the melting process was so simple even using the microwave; I was left with smooth creamy dipping perfection!
From their cocoa powder and premium hot cocoa mixes to the premium candy & dipping wafers something told me Santa would be left an extra special treat this year. Beyond traditional chocolate chip cookies we like to leave the "big man" a special treat each year. This year we’ve put our Ghirardelli products to use creating a chocolate cocoa cookie, dipped in white Ghiraradelli melting wafers. Our special ingredient was Ghirardelli unsweetened ground cocoa, with that intense chocolate taste you’ve come to expect from the chocolatiers at Ghirardelli.
What you need:
- 2 & 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened Ghirardelli cocoa powder
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1 package Ghirardelli White Premium Candy & Melting Wafers
-Preheat oven to 350
-Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in medium bowl; set aside.
-Beat butter, sugar and vanilla in large bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes; beat in eggs. Slowly beat in flour mixture until mixture forms a ball Tip: I find it easier to mix in the flour by hand. Chill dough about 30 minute.
-Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Arrange balls on greased baking sheet, 2 inches apart. Bake 10 minutes or until edges are firm.
-Melt your white dipping wafers according to your preference, I used the microwave. Dip cooled cookies one at a time into candy dip, covering completely. Place on parchment paper, and refrigerate to harden about 20 minutes. If you’d like after dipping the cookies you can add sprinkles, sugar crystals etc.
