When it comes to kids movies there are a lot of classics that come to mind as favorites, but there is one movie in particular I could watch over and over with or without my kids by my side. Monsters Inc. was one of those movies with just the right balance of lovable characters, humor and great story line that instantly turned it into a classic not quickly forgotten.

When the trailer for Monster University hit the air, I’m not sure who was more excited, me or my kids. The prequel to Pixar's huge hit Monsters Inc. this new installment brings us the story of how Sulley and Mike met scaring up adventures in “Monsters University.”

Synopsis:

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike's plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, "Sulley" (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair's out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University's elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right. “Monsters University” bravely explores themes of self-discovery and the revelations that come with growing up.

This movie focuses on how and unlikely pair -one who didn’t start out as friends- can overcome their differences and forge not just a friendship, but could become the best of friends. The perfect treat this Halloween, Monsters University hits Blu-ray, DVD and On-Demand on October 29, 2013.

We enjoyed some popcorn, of course, and a long movie night once again enjoying the magic of Monster Inc. and following it up with the newest hit Monster University. Normally my kids patience begin to run low toward the end of one movie, but Monsters University kept up its fun and engaging story line leaving us hoping for a 3rd installment in the future!
