As fast as this summer seems to have slipped away, we were presented with a great deal of downtime at home and on-the-go, which would typically leave me struggling with activities to keep the youngsters occupied. Luckily as a Comcast Xfinity customer, we were able to enjoy more than 1000 family-friendly movies and TV shows On Demand and via our Xfinity TV Player app.

Rainy days were made entertaining with a large On Demand selection of all my kids’ favorite shows from top brands such as Nickelodeon, Disney, Sprout, Cartoon Network, Angry Birds Toons, PBS KIDS, the HUB Network, Dreamworks, NBCUniversal and more. Our Comcast Xfinity services play a large part in our day to day lives all year round from our internet usage to having a dedicated landline we can always count on. But where Xfinity really helped out this summer was on those long car rides and during those long appointment waits for back-to-school physicals.

The Xfinity TV App

Typically our summers are filled with lots of appointments and long road trips. With four kids ranging in age from 6 to 13 the arguments and shouts of “are we there yet” have become just part of the routine. The days of coloring books for entertainment have long past. This year things have been a bit more peaceful, however with the addition of the Xfinity TV app (and download feature) that is included with our Digital TV Subscription through Comcast. With the Xfinity TV app we can choose our favorite TV shows and movies with us on-the-go and view them on our Smartphones or tablets. Not only that, but with the download feature I am still able to occupy my children when streaming isn’t an option – which is actually pretty often.

The download feature, on our Xfinity TV Player app, gives me the freedom to download content instantly to any one of my mobile devices (that have the app downloaded) for offline viewing. This allows us the ability to view our favorite movies or shows anytime, anywhere! This has been a huge lifesaver this summer. I have to admit, even I’ve been known to swim around in the pool when I have some downtime and catch up on my favorite flicks.

Through this service I’ve also been able to share many of my childhood favorites with my kids like Charlotte’s Web and An American Tale; making for exciting family film nights. Having the one of my sons favorite shows in hand also proved valuable at our latest trip to the dentist. I was actually able to keep him calm and distracted with the latest episode of Pokemon! Finding age appropriate content is also made simple with a filter that allows you to quickly search for only downloadable content on any network or in any genre you’d like.

Parental Controls made Easy

My older kids are able to work all our Comcast Xfinity Services with ease, yet I can still rest easy knowing they are protected by Xfinity parental controls. Our digital TV boxes have always provided us with simple and effective parental controls for setting up passwords to restrict channels. And this summer In partnership with Common Sense Media, Xfinity TV is integrating TV show and film ratings into kids content to help you make informed choices about entertainment for your family through a media ratings system based on child development guideline. As an Xfinity TV customer I can filter kids' content by age and most watched on Xfinity on Demand and services will be available whether my children are watching on TV, PC, tablet or Smartphone!

Xfinity TV app

Whether you'll be heading on late summer vacation or preparing for a long winter indoors with all your children's favorite programs including: Dora the Explorer, Angry Birds Toons, Sofia the First, Phineas and Ferb, Ben 10, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, The Chica Show, Sid the Science Kid, Lazy Town, Pajanimals, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and hundreds more will be available for their entertainment on home and now on the go with a subscription to Comcast Infinity digital TV and/or Xfinity Streampix.

For more information on how to download the app and take your content on-the-go please visit the Comcast Summer of Kids.

I like that this has parental controls. This sounds perfect for us so that I am able to use it with my son.

I like the parental controls also. It is good to find something to keep the kids busy that we can control! :)

This is really a great app to have to watch my favorite movies and for my nephew and niece to watch on while I am babysitting them. I like that their are parental controls.

As Comcast Xfinity TV does not ring even the slightest bell, I don't believe we have it. But I think that it sounds like a great app. I know the kids surely love it!

We don't have this service but I wish we did for that app. It would be great for the grand kids.

My husband would love this app! He hates being away from his television and his favorite shows. I know he would love having access to them on the go.
