Home Hair Removal with Remington's #iLightPro - The Results #Sponsored

Hair removal has always been an arduous task, from messy creams and waxes to the constant purchase of razors and refills. I admit I’ve always been a bit jealous of those able to run out for laser hair treatments walking around with perfectly smooth legs and no effort. Well what if I told you, you (and I) could get professional result using an Intense Pulsed Light machine in the privacy of our own home?

Remington i-Light Pro
Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Remington. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and as a thank you for participating.”

The Remington i-LIGHT Pro, is an FDA cleared, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) device for at-home removal of unwanted hair on arms, legs, bikini, underarms, stomach and chest. For those of you not familiar with Intense Pulsed Light treatments, IPL works below skin’s surface to disable active hairs and prevent new ones from growing. When light energy is generated by a Xenon flash lamp and applied to the skin, the light actually targets the pigment in the hair follicles, disrupting the growth cycle. Since your hair goes through different cycles: growing, resting and shedding. And the hair needs to be treated in the growing stage to disable the follicle. At least three (3) treatments are needed, due to the fact your hairs are never all in the same stage at a given time.

For the past 7 weeks I’ve been putting my i-LIGHT Pro to the test in order to share with you my results (checkout my original i-LIGHT pro review.) The initial treatment schedule recommended treatments every two weeks for the first three treatments, and then only as needed.

Using the i-Light Pro:

You want to start with clean shaven skin, in order to give the light the clearest path to the hair folicle. Once you have a dry, shaven treatment area you’ll want to touch your skin to the skin tone sensor to make sure your skin is compatible with the i-LIGHT Pro – The i-LIGHT Pro is not for use on dark skin or tattoos and will not work efficiently on very light or red hair. Once the i-LIGHT reads my skin tone as acceptable for use, the machine will unlock and I can than begin treatment by pressing the i-LIGHT Pro against my skin and listening for a chirping sound before pressing the flash button.

You will see a short flash and feel warmth. Repeat on the treatment area in an organized, grid-like pattern without overlapping. You don’t want to treat the same area of skin multiple times in a single treatment.

Treatment is time consuming, but given the alternatives and the fact you can use the i-LIGHT Pro in-home, at your leisure, I did not mind spending a little extra time; especially knowing there is a possibility final result can last for 4-6 months!

Final Results

Here I am 3 treatments in without too much fuss and with very minimal discomfort. So what about the hair? I didn't notice much change after the first treatment which was to be expected. At this point though, I've begun to see a reduction in how fast the hair is growing back in my bikini area and underarms and about a 15% total reduction in hair growth on my legs.

While I haven't been able to throw out my razor just yet, I've notice enough change to know that the process works. I will continue treatments building upon the fact that I'm no longer shaving every other day (summer months are killer) and my hair seems to be coming in finer.

Buy It: The Remington i-LIGHT Pro can be purchased for the SRP of $249.99 equipped with 1 cartridge that provides 1,500 flashes for 2-3 full body treatments. Additional cartridges sold separately for the price of $24.99 each.

Glad to read about this product. My daughter has been wanting one of these but didn't know a good brand to trust.

I need one of these. For some reason I always cut my legs when I shave. I am covered with little scrapes!

My daughter would invest in this when she hears about it. She paid quite a bit of money to get her eyebrows done and they messed it up and on one, she only has 1/2 an eyebrow and has to pencil it in now. To be able to do this at home and not shave anymore, that is so cool

Wow! This sounds fantastic, and definitely worth the time investment. I love the idea of going hair free for more than a day at a time.

I've been pricing home IPLs but hesitated because wasn't sure they really worked. But now that I see yours does, maybe I'll take another look.
