There is so much time to fill during the summer months and one of our favorite ways to do so, is with family movie night! The only hard part is finding movie options suitable for all my kids that won’t leave Mom snoozing - or visa versa.

On the Disney Channel I can always find kid-friendly programing along with great family movies. Not to disappoint this summer, premiering July 19th, is Disney Channels newest feature “Teen Beach Movie!”  This is a movie the whole family will enjoy together.

"Teen Beach Movie" follows teen surfing sweethearts Brady and McKenzie who together ride the last wave of summer, one that mysteriously takes them into a classic beach party movie, “Wet Side Story.”  Now, Brady and McKenzie must try to return to present day, but their lives may be changed forever when they inadvertently alter the movie's romantic storyline when handsome surfer Tanner falls for McKenzie and biker girl Lela starts swooning for Brady.

Just reading the movies plot brought back memories of the classic "beach films" we’ve all come to know and love and I’m excited to see what the younger generation does with "Teen Beach Movie."  I’m hoping my kids (especially my daughter) will find the singing, dancing, and retro fashions as engaging as I found “Beach Blanket Bingo” and its predecessors.

Introducing the cast

Cast of Disney's Teen Beach Movie

Teen Beach Movie is packed with a wonderful cast including:
  • Ross Lynch, star of Disney Channel’s Austin & Ally & Hollywood Records’ R5

  • Grace Phipps, star of ABC Family’s The Nine Lives of Chloe King and the CW’s Vampire Diaries

Geared toward kids, tweens (ages 6-14) and their families, this movie is filled with not just great storytelling and entertainment, but it has a meaningful plot that showcases positive themes like self-expression, friendship and youth empowerment; Illustrating to tweens the importance of believing in yourself and following your true destiny.

This looks like such a cute movie for the kids. It reminds me of the old beach movies with Annette Funicello.
