Thank you Nestle, for giving me the best news of the summer! Nestle has released new limited edition candy bar flavors, which had me
heading running straight to my local Walmart! Of
course, any chocolate is good chocolate, but what could be so good I would call
it the best news of the summer? These limited edition candy bars have been
inspired by my favorite Girl Scout Cookie flavors!
Nestle Girl Scout Crunch
Available for a limited time only, you can bring home three classic Girl Scout cookie flavors – Peanut Butter Crèmes, Thin Mints, and Caramel and Coconut – layered between crisp cookie wafers and surrounded with a crunch. Nestle has really created something truly irresistible. The tastes are spot on, enhanced only with crispies and a chocolaty coating.
It's hard to pick a favorite, but the Caramel and Coconut is just too much for me to resist. These truly are the next best thing to enjoying Samoas. As for my husband and kids, well their choices didn't surprise me either. My youngest two enjoyed the dark chocolate, layered wafer, goodness of the Thin Mint variety, while my older boys and husband indulged in the Peanut Butter Crèmes .
Watching my boys enjoy the peanut butter crèmes so much, gave me an idea....
Tagalong Cake Bars
Another favorite treat around here are my cake bars, in which I often toss our favorite candies. Surely a peanut buttery candy recipe would go over just as well, if not better!
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon creamy peanut butter
- 2 large (or 4 fun-sized) Peanut Butter Crèmes Nestle Girl Scout Crunch Bars, crushed
- Preheat oven to 350
- Combined first five ingredients in a medium sized bowl; blend together on medium speed. Stir in candy pieces.
- Press dough into 9-inch-square baking pan.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until golden and wooden pick inserted near center comes out clean.
- Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
Remember, just like your favorite Girl Scout Cookies which seem to be here and then gone before you know it. These new Nestle treats will only be available for a limited time!
