I don’t think it’s a secret that I enjoying cooking and baking, but you might be surprised to find out that up until about 5 years ago, there was nothing I enjoyed less. It wasn’t until I started to become increasingly bored with the same weekly meals and bland tastes that I started to experiment and really found my passion for the kitchen. It was crazy how my new found enjoyment for cooking even made me enjoy grocery shopping a bit more, as I was now taking my time and really exploring the ingredients on the shelves.
Today, no matter what crazy spice, herb or ingredients I might be looking for. You can be sure I never leave the market with first visiting the refrigerated dairy section. This is where I find the staples to most of my favorite meals: milk, butter, eggs, cream, and yogurt.
From tasty desserts, delectable dinners, and kid favorite lunches, I would be lost without our most favorite dairy ingredient. Cheese! Cheese allows me the option of taking an everyday favorite and kicking it up a notch by simply adding different cheeses and ingredients that pair well with them. Take my kids favorite lunch, grilled cheese, for example. Just yesterday instead of your typical grilled cheese for lunch I made what I call "Balsamic Grilled Cheese" by adding mozzarella, tomatoes, fresh basil, a touch of cilantro and balsamic glaze to the bread and toasting it in a pan coated lightly with olive oil.
Switching up cheese on our pizza, sandwiches, casseroles and more, helps keep us from getting tired of the same dishes and brings a little zing to the table.
