Slow Cooker Beef Stew #Recipe (Recipe Linky)

Beef Stew #Recipes

It’s becoming increasingly hard to find one dinner that the whole family enjoys. However I know I can always count on a meaty soup or stew to fill them all without complaints. This is one of my favorite stews to make because it’s simple, flavorful and filling.

What you need:
  • 1lb stew beef stew meat
  • 5 carrots, chopped  *Bagged baby carrots can also be used
  • 3 large golden potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 envelopes onion soup mix
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • Dash of garlic powder
  • 1 ½ cup Rotini or egg noodles
  • salt & pepper
  • Hot water

Optional: Flour or cornstarch

Directions:

I brown my meat for a few minutes using the brown setting on my slow cooker, but this is an optional step as I have just tossed it all together when I was short on time.

Set slow cooker to high.

Add meat, chopped onion, potatoes and carrots to slow cooker. Add Beef stock and onion soup mix; slowly stir in hot water to dissolve soup mix, filling to almost the top of your slow cooker.

Add Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper; cover and let cook for 5 hours.

A half an hour before your meal is done, open and add in your noodles. Cover and allow cooking until noodles are soft. If you prefer a heavy broth or gravy add a few tsps. Of flour or cornstarch stirring for a minute or so with crockpot still set on high.

Serve and enjoy!

Note* I didn't even think about it before reading some of your comments. Noodles are optional. I originally made it without noodles and my husband promently asked "what, no noodles?" With that I began adding noodles. But my son and I still prefer it noodle free. So the noodles are really just a matter of prefrence :)

The beef stew looks really good. I usually make mine without the noodles but that would be a great way to extend the stew for more people. Thanks so much for the recipe and pictures

Like @ann, no noodles - we're on a low-carb diet. Regardless, this sounds yummy and really easy!

I like your recipe. It's easy and basic. I have never just added my noodles to the slow cooker. I usually cook them and then add them. By adding them to the slow cooker it probably takes up a bunch of the extra juice. Mine usually turns out to thin and I have to add corn starch to thicken it up. Thanks for the recipe! I am going to try it your way and hope that I save a bunch of time.
