Your Help is needed! Name the Charity You Think is Most Deserving

My friends at Jaypore (the first iPad-only shopping app for rare home and fashion products) are looking to give back and need your help. They would like to donate many  new blankets to a charity or shelter in need. The problem however, is, after much debate we simple couldn’t decide which charity could use this donation most. In fact, we were sure that there were many charities, and or shelters, across the country, which were worthy, and not even on our radar.

So here is what we need from you. Do you know of a local homeless shelter, women’s shelter, charity, children’s organization etc? That could benefit from a large donation of new blankets? Let us know right here in the comment section.

As long as an organization is helping those troubled, sick or in need, we believe all charities are worthy of this donation. In 2 weeks, after you guys have submitted your choices, I will randomly draw a comment number and this donation of blankets will be shipped to said charity/shelter.

There are no big rules here. All I ask is that you share with us the charity you think is most deserving and that we will be able to obtain a shipping address and phone number for this organization.

There is nothing I love more than a company that gives back. I am very grateful to Jaypore for this amazing idea and their amazing donation. I hope to see you all get involved by telling me the name and location (if it’s a local shelter to you etc.) of the organization that you think could really use these blankets the most.

Donation to charity to be made by Jaypore.

The youth group at my church goes into downtown Oklahoma City and hands out blankets, shoes, coats, etc to the homeless. I'm sure these blankets would be used and appreciated! Especially with the below freezing temperatures we've been having here lately.

The Heart of Giving in Oak Harbor, WA has partnered with a local property management firm to open the doors of unrented apartments in our area to serve the communities homeless population. They are in great need of blankets, bedding, sleeping bags, etc! This would be a tremendous blessing!

I don't know of a charity in need right now, but I just wanted to comment that I think it is wonderful when companies give back and I think what you are doing is lovely, too!

I think it is lovely when a company gives back. Our local shelter that helps homeless/abused women and children would be a good choice.

The Helen Woodward Animal Shelter in Rancho Santa Fe, CA always needs blankets. They are a no-kill shelter and provide community services, such as therapeutic riding programs, etc.

My city has a wonderful homeless outreach program that could really benefit from the blankets. Thank you!
Here's their website: http://www.homelessoutreach.net

Here's some info from their site:

About
We are the only homeless outreach that works at five nights a week including weekends between 8PM and 3AM. We work closely with law enforcement in Contra Costa County to take the burden off them and get people what they need!

Mission
To leave homeless individuals better than we found them and to move the homeless into services so their lives will get better for them.

Company Overview
We provide assistance to homeless individuals when they most need it... at night time. This can mean providing basic necessities such as food, clothing, blankets and toiletries; it may mean we found a bed in a shelter which they can stay in and we take them there; it may mean we realize they are in need of medical care and we take them to the hospital to get needed treatment. We work when no other agency will... in the dead of night.

Description
Nighttime Homeless Outreach
We are an IRS 501 (c) (3) designated charitable organization

General Information
Our goal is to be a resource for the homeless in Contra Costa County and assist law enforcement agencies as they deal with homeless individuals so they are freed up for crucial police duties, knowing PMHO will take care of the needs of the homeless.

We have a local outreach program that helps more than 400 families each month. It is called The Agape Center and is located in Moneta, VA. Each person meets with a mentor during their monthly visit. The mentors listen and pray with the person. The Center provides food and toiletry items each month, plus other appliance and furniture needs that have been donated by many others throughout the community. There are more than 100 volunteers at the Agape Center and absolutely no one is paid, not even the Director. This is a worthwhile agency who I know would be able to readily find homes in which the blankets are needed. Thank you for desiring to give to others with this blankets giveaway.

I love Best Friends Animal Sanctuary! They certainly need blankets all the time to provide bedding for dogs, cats and other animals, especially any that are sick or injured.

My charity is It Takes A Village-a non profit dog rescue that rescues dogs from all over not just in my hometown. It is a great charity and I know that they are humble as well and always passes the "wealth" to other animal resuces in the area!

thank you for the opportunity.
