Work at Home Resources for Moms

One of the hardest decisions I had to make when I became a Mother was deciding to be a stay at home mom, or working mother. I never really thought about the reality of becoming a work from home mom. After much debate within, my husband made the choice easy for me and said it would be OK with, and preferred me, staying home with the kids.

That worked well for a few years, but once we were on our third child we really needed an extra income. So, of to work I went. And I loved it. I loved the me time, the adult time, bringing home my own earrings and again. I was OK now being a working Mother.

About two years after the birth of my daughter, it all came crashing in on me. My kids really needed a lot of attention in the school areas, I felt like I was missing a lot of my daughter growing and I made the decision for me to return to life as a SAHM. I love being a SAHM but really missed the extra income. I started to look into various work at home options, but it was very tricky figuring out the real opportunities from the fake.

When I came across I was excited to see such a website providing Moms with real work at home opportunities. That isn't all though, they also have out of home opportunities geared directly at Moms.

Working Mums also has a franchise section. Now I knew what the word franchise meant, but will still a little confused as to what a franchise offer was and how it was different from a regular job opportunity. In effect a franchise opportunity is a cross between running your own business and working for someone. You get the freedom to be your own boss, with the protection of working within a certain framework. You’re also getting low start-up costs as opposed to opening your own business. All you really need is the skills of an entrepreneur, to be able to research a good business plan and develop a range of ways for promoting your business.

I was amazed at all the opportunities form well-known companies (even right here in the states). I wish there were more resources like this with legitimate opportunities for Mothers. Whether they are looking for a work at home opportunity or outside the home work, there certainly aren't enough trusted sites in this area, for Mother's.

Do you work from home or have any "WAH" resources to share?

I think it is a balancing act. I work from home and am still in charge of all the things around the house, running errands, delivering kids hither and yon, etc. You have to tell them sometimes I need X amount of time to do something for my work.

Thank you for posting! I need to find something that can be flexible but also allowing me to pay the bills.

I have been a work outside of the home mom for so long I would not know what to do with myself. It good that there are resources for those that want to stay at home.

I love the flexibility of working from home but I have to admit that the challenge of keeping on task when my family is also home was tricky to work out, especially during holidays and school breaks. I've had opportunity to try both worlds and even though its like apples to oranges, I'm glad for the extra time with my family.
