Meet American Girl, Caroline Abbott #GiftGuide

This past September American Girl debut a new historical character, Caroline Abbott, who will make the perfect addition to your American Girl collection this holiday season.

American Girl Dolls

Caroline makes her debut as the 13th heroine to join American Girl's family of characters growing up in important time periods of American history, from 1764 to 1973. Representing the war of 1812 her release correlates with the bicentennial of the Second War for Independence.

Caroline’s Story:

Living with her family in Sacket Harbor, New York, Caroline loves sailing with her father, the shipbuilder, and dreams of captaining her own ship one day. We learn even more through a series of 6 books, that launch with Caroline, and are set exactly 200 years ago when Caroline was an independent and adventurous 9 year old girl, living in Sacket Harbor.

Caroline’s tale continues when British sailors capture her father and cousin. Caroline does her best to keep the promise she makes to her father to stay steady and ride storms through bad weather. Through her trials Caroline proves her own strength, as she navigates the challenges of wartime. A brave an independent girl is who Caroline represents, teaching girls today that they too can navigate life’s challenges by simply staying strong, making good decisions and taking action.

The Doll

Standing at 18-inches Caroline’s doll is brought to life with beauty and elegance. Featuring light aquamarine eyes that open and close. She has waist-length, golden-blond hair that can be braided and styled, and arrives in an empire-waist dress authentic to her era.

American Girl Historical Characters

It was love at first site for not just my daughter, but me as well. I think American Girl easily represents a special period in my own childhood where dolls came to life in your imagination and could become your very best friend.

My daughter also has McKenna, American Girls 2012 girl of the year.  McKenna follows us a long on almost every adventure and has held up better than expected - for the amount of travel and play she has endured. However, there was something about Caroline, Mommy wasn’t quite ready to let go of. Caroline now sits on my shelf and is admired daily while my daughter and I enjoy the stories of her life.

A great addition to Caroline this season is Caroline’s Ice Skating set featuring a beautiful and elegant coat & hat ensemble. MSRP $32

Of course all American Girl sets are interchangeable. My daughter and I enjoy trying different styles on the dolls and fixing up their hair. There is so much beauty, magic and inspiration within the American Girl Collection you simple can’t outgrow them. I love American Girls as much as my daughter, making them in my mind, a great gift for young or old.
