Chocolate Crinkle #Recipe #G2KHoliday

Holiday Recipes

One of my many favorite activities for the holiday season is of course baking. There are so many delicious desserts that will stand out amongst your holiday table. But did you know you can bake smarter this season by using a spread instead of butter? And no, you will not be sacrificing flavor. Spreads are not only a better nutrition option than butter, but they’ll also keep your holiday recipes tasting delicious.

Spreads contain 0g trans-fat per serving and are made with a delicious blend of oils. They also have no cholesterol and contain 70% less fat than butter per serving, so it's easy to feel good about using them. If you aren’t familiar with the various spreads options Unilever has a few options like Country Crock, I Can’t believe it’s Not Butter!, Imperial and  Promise - all a better nutrition option this season when we are all indulging in tasty holiday meals and rich desserts.

This month I was challenged to determine for myself whether the flavor in my favorite holiday treats would really be affected if I substituted with a spread and what better dessert to try spread with than Chocolate Crinkles?

baking goods

For this task I was also supplied with a few fab baking supplies, which I will be "sharing" with you as well!

holiday cookies

Chocolate Crinkles

Ingredients:

incredients

  •  2-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  •  1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  •  2 tsp. baking powder
  •  1/2 tsp. salt
  •  1/2 cup Country Crock® Spread
  •  2 cups sugar
  •  2 tsp. vanilla extract
  •  2 large eggs
  •  1/2 cup confectioners sugar

Directions:

  • Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in medium bowl; set aside.
  • Beat Shedd's Spread Country Crock, sugar and vanilla in large bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Beat in eggs. Beat in flour mixture until mixture forms a ball. Chill dough 30 minutes or until firm.

batter
  • Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350°. Grease baking sheets; set aside.
  • Shape dough into 1-inch balls, and then roll in confectioners’ sugar. Arrange balls on prepared sheets, 2 inches apart.

Holiday dessert recipes

Bake 10 minutes or until edges are firm and tops are cracked. Let stand 2 minutes on wire rack; remove from sheets and cool completely
While I DO NOT endorse eating batter -as you should never consume raw eggs- I must admit, I couldn’t help but take a nibble. And, oh my!! The batter was one of the most delicious I’ve ever tasted. These cookies came out beautifully and the tasted was just as fabulous. It’s more of a “cakey” cookie with just the right blend of chocolaty goodness.

Festive and mouthwatering they’ll make for the perfect addition to your holiday spread.

    Christmas cookie recipes

I would have never known from simply tasting that these cookies were made with a spread and challenge you to try spread in your favorite holiday dish this year. For additional facts about spread, recipes and tips you can check out its ItIsGoodtoKnow.com

Additionally, another exciting opportunity is also available. Starting November 19th Unilever will host its annual Confection Perfection Sweepstakes. You can sign up to receive 31 delectable holiday cookie dessert recipes delivered right to your inbox and be entered to win a Kitchen Aid stand mixer daily!
