The Most Memorable Movie Creatures

The thrilling debut of the animated TV series based on
Academy Award®-nominated hit How To Train Your Dragon,
“Dragons: Riders of Berk,” comes to DVD November 20

Adventures in Pet Ownership

Dragons sure make for some pretty exciting pets – just ask Hiccup!  Throughout movie history, people have certainly owned pets as zany, if not zanier, than a dragon. From whales to luck dragons, from magical owls to one loony “Mean Green Mother From Outer Space,” here are some of the most memorable feature creatures.

Precious, Ice Age Continental Drift

Marshall’s loony Granny adopted Precious but every mention of her beloved pet was attributed to senility. That is, until Precious, massive in size, emerged from the ocean and showed them all.

Audrey II, Little Shop of Horrors

Despite its owner’s attempts to give it sunlight and soothe it, no pet has ever been as lethal as this talking, singing, man-eating alien flytrap. When Seymour Krelborn can see no other way, he grants its wish to consume human flesh.

Falkor, The Never Ending Story

Unlike most of their dragon kin, Luck Dragons possess neither an immense physical strength, nor great magical talents, though they can still breathe fire. Their only distinctive ability setting them apart is their incredible luck in everything they do. A Luck Dragon's typical answer to how it is going to accomplish a nearly impossible feat is always "With luck!"

Hedwig, Harry Potter

Snowy Owl, Hedwig, is famed wizard Harry Potter’s loyal companion from his start at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry up until her tragic end during the Battle of the Seven Potters.

Gizmo, Gremlins

At Christmastime, Mr. Peltzer discovers a small, furry creature called a Mogwai in an antique store. He takes the Mogwai, which he gives the name "Gizmo", to his family in the town of Kingston Falls but that’s the last normal Christmas happening for the Peltzer family.

E.T., E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

Elliot, a gentle but alienated little boy, finds a stranded extraterrestrial in the woods and the two forge an unforgettable bond. Pushing any fears aside, Elliot must find the courage to defy the authorities and help E.T. return to his home planet.

Who is your favorite movie "creature" or pet? Did they make the list?

No, it didn't. My favorite movie creature is Dobie from Harry Potter.

Gosh, I loved E.T. I remember when my daughter was about 5, after this came out, we had her a costume made that was E.T and it was awesome!
