Bra Size and Fitting

In comparison to other garments, bras definitely have their own rather unique sizing methods. They are determined by taking two measurements around the bust area. One of these is the area just below the bottom of the bustline. This is where the band of the bra would be located. The second measurement is the circumference around the fullest part of the bust. The first measurement would indicate the band size needed and the second number is used in conjunctions with the first number to find the cup size. These numbers are subtracted which results in a difference. The amount of this difference designates the cup size needed for the bra.

When the band size and cup size are subtracted, if the resulting difference is a negative one, this means an AA cup is needed. However, if the numbers are the same which results in no difference, then an A cup is the correct cup size. This pattern would then continue all the way to a size H. An H cup is needed if the difference between the band and cup sizes is 8.

It is important for women to find a bra that fits properly though trying out their bra sizes. This can provide the appropriate amount of support. It also can protect the muscles of the back from strain. Sadly, some women are not wearing bras with the proper amount of support and suffer from back pain. When one’s bra fits well, it also makes the clothes worn over the bra look much better. Bras are known as foundation garments for a reason.
Your bra may be trying to tell you it’s just not the right size anymore. If wires are poking you, breasts are spilling out of the cups or the bra front won’t rest against the chest, then you really need to measure yourself as you more than likely need a larger bra size.

I agree, proper fit is the key. If you suffer from back pain, this could be the culprit :)

What makes a good fitting bra? To get a good fitting bra you must first start with a good fitting. The fitter should measure and make recommendations for optimum fit and comfort of her patients. To assess the fit of the bali shapewear bra, the fitter will evaluate all the components of the bra to see how they match with the wearer’s unique proportions.
