What Are Your Weekends Like?

Curiosity has gotten the best of me. After yet another weekend has just flown on by, I wonder. How does your family spend their weekends?

Since my husband typically works Monday-Saturday we don’t often venture too far from home. In fact a typical weekend for us consists of movies and video games. We would all like to spend a little more time outdoors, but the heat has been killer this year. Within 5 minutes of heading out the complaints begin in regards to the bugs and just being too hot! So for us games and movies it is, at least for another few months until the temps drop just slightly, ugh.

I don’t really mind though. I was brought up on video games, so I figured it was only natural for my kids to enjoy them just as much. My only issue is I want to play too! With the release of games like Call Of Duty and Halo which over run our T.V and have my husband an kids immersed in hours of game play, I have to ask “What about Mom?”  Not since the age of Golden Eye for Super NES have first person shooting games been my thing – basically because I am down right horrible at them! I would much rather sit down to play a RPG game, but it's hard to incorporate family play time into a game like Assassins Creed. I can however talk them into a game of Mario Kart once in a while! But the fun is short lived, they would much rather be battling Zombies together, without Mom!

Maybe while they are at school and the hubby is at work, I should brush up on my first person shooting skills or at least search out some multi player games I stand a fighting chance in. Getting old stinks! I use to be good in whatever game I played, now the kids leave me in the dust.

What does your family do for a little indoor fun?

If my son had his way he would spend his entire weekend playing video games. Since my husband works most weekends, I run errands, do housework, catch up on some computer stuff, etc.

We like to have family movie and game nights but we also like to cook and bake together on the weekends since our weekday schedule is so crazy, we rarely have a chance to eat together.

We don't do a whole lot on the weekends. My granddaughter is a cheerleader sometimes we go to her games on Saturday.

Our weekends seem to go too fast and we never get a thing done! Lol...no two are the same, though we do seem to have at least on movie night, it's the only way I can pull the big kid out of boydom away from his video games.

We usually go camping on weekends, but we like to watch movies and play video games in the winter weather. My kids always beat me in the video games!

Ugh, you know once I tried to get into playing Call of Duty with my husband just for something to do with him, but the fowel language of the "KIDS" who play that game unsupervised by adults just sickened me on the game. My husband can play it, but thankfully he plays in the man cave, plus I don't really want my kids to be desensitized to people being shot. So I'm glad its away from the kids. Now I would totally get into some kids Wii games for a family fun night or some puzzle or strategy video games. Man I loved Mario Brothers back in the day! Thats what I grew up on! Nintendo!!
