Fellowes Saturn2 95 Laminator Review and Coupon Code

I've always wanted a laminator and could think of a million uses for one, but could seem to shake the mental image I had of a laminator from when I was a child. Do you remember those bulky machines in the office or teachers’ lounge at school? They were loud, hot and intimidating to me as a child – enough so that I still vividly remember it.

When I was given the opportunity to check out the Fellowes Saturn2 95 Desktop Laminator, I was surprised how compact it was and was just hoping it worked well, because with a new school year approaching I knew it would get some heavy use.

Fellowes Saturn2 95 Laminator Features:

  • HeatGuard™ Technology: Double-walled insulation keeps heat inside so laminator is comfortable to touch, making it safe for homes with children
  • Advanced Temperature Control: Hot and cold laminating capabilities ensure consistent, smooth results every time
  • Jam Release Lever: Permits easy removal or re-centering of stalled pouches.
I have always wanted to laminate the kids’ social security cards and birth certificates. These important paper documents are supposed to last a life time, but one look at my social security card or my husbands and you’d wonder how they have made it this long. As soon as I broke the Fellowes Saturn2 95 Laminator out its box I went to work protecting these vital documents.

Fellowes Laminator

Setting up the Fellowes Saturn2 95 Laminator was quite easy. First you want to place it on a stable surface like your desk or table, making sure there is enough space around it - minimum 20 inches – to allow papers and documents to pass through.  At this point  you should make sure the machine is plugged in and switched on, it will go in safe start mode, which starts the machine in the cold setting. I wanted hot lamination; I choose the appropriate size pouch and selected the pouch thickness on the laminator. While the laminator warms a up the wait symbol will flash – it does take some time to warm up – once you’re ready to laminate the symbol will stop flashing and hold steady, a beep will also be heard indicating you are ready to start laminating.

Once you have picked the appropriate size pouch for your laminating project, you can insert your document, project etc. into the pouch making sure the edges line up. Feed the sheet into the machine, the machine will “catch” the pouch and automatically continue feeding it through. When laminating is complete you can retrieve it from the opposite side of the machine, it will be warm, not hot, but warm, you can then trim as you see fit.

Fellowes Laminator in use

There are so many uses for a laminator! I can’t believe I didn’t invest in one sooner. After taking care of all are important documents, I moved on to preserving some of the kids special art works, awards and diplomas. I copied a few activity sheets from the internet as well, and laminated them. With dry erase markers in hand my daughter was able to complete the activity, like tracing her ABC’s, and wipe it clean to start again. This has been a great way to help brush up on some skills for Kindergarten this year.

I also plan on making her a neck tag with her name, teachers’ name (as soon as we are provided this info) and bus stop for the first week of school. The school recommended this for all my children when they entered Kindergarten, however I found myself making a new tag daily. Of course kids aren’t always careful and after a day of traipsing a paper tag around school it was normally destroyed.

For all you foodies out there who follow recipes, like me, I also found the Fellowes Saturn2 95 Laminator great for laminating my recipes. Occasionally, I have to pull one out to remind myself of what is need and it never fails…. I spill something or everything all over the recipe. With my recipes laminated and in my book I can just wipe them clean.

The Fellowes Saturn2 95 Laminator was everything I hoped for in a home laminator. It was safe for use around the kids with its HeatGuard™ Technology, it has helped me create activities to share with them and most importantly, it help preserve memories whether it be a special photo, document or creation.

Nice! I wish I had had this when I was teaching so I didn't have to deal with the headaches of school laminators! So useful around the house, too.

These are great, we have a small one but I'd love one to laminate documents, etc. I too could think of so many things but would love it for special school projects from my grandchildren

I want one as well. But the SSA recommends that you do not laminate your card.

Yes, but my parents did it and never had an issue. I don't have time to sit at the SS office every time one goes through the wash machine - which is quite often! lol And yes, I know it's not recommended that you carry your SS card on you, yet my husband does anyway and I wash it ;) So, I'm still thrilled I was finally able to laminate them and hopefully get a few extra years of life out of them.

Laminators really are a nice thing to have. My alternative has been to keep some of my cards and documents tucked into the pages of hardback books. It keeps them in good shape but it's easy to forget and lose things like that.
