Join Elmer's In Giving Back #BagItForward #Cbias

It seems this summer is flying by. My kids start heading back to school in just about 4 weeks. This back-to-school season is a big one for us, as the princess joins her brothers and will enter Kindergarten. I have already begun shopping for school as far as clothing goes, but I always seem to wait until the last minute for school supplies. Which leads to certain items being sold out and me sending the kids off not 100% prepared. This year I was not letting that happen, and we headed to start supply shopping while our local Walmart was just starting to stock their back-to-school section.

donations

However, this year I wasn't headed shopping with just my kids in mind. This year I am also participating in the amazing #BagItForward campaign from Elmer's.

#BagItForward

The idea behind the campaign is rather simple - Join together and help make a difference in your community by donating quality school supplies to a child, special teacher, or even an organization in need. Every child deserves to start the year off right with fresh supplies. Often though if a child is without, their teacher will pick up the slack, with that money coming from their own pocket. With that in mind, this year while stocking up for your own child, why not implement the "buy two, give one" rule - one for your child and one for a child or classroom in need.

Since this is the princesses first year in school, it was important for me to get her involved along with my sons. I wanted her to learn early the importance of giving back and decided her teacher would be the perfect person to donate to. The princess will be able to get the full effect by creating a card and handing over our donation to the teacher herself.

Elmer's 1st Day App

Since I was unsure if the school supply lists would be out, before we left on our shopping trip I took a glance at the schools online version, but as soon as I hit the back to school section there was the supply lists for all the local schools. Also on the display was a
QR code you can scan to download the Elmer's 1st Day app.

Elmer's 1st Day QR Code Display

The Elmers 1st Day lets you shoot, organize, and share pictures and memories from the first day of school. It even allows you to customize your photos with cute borders and photo enchantments. This isn't the best part though! For every photo uploaded to the app, Elmer's will donate one product to the Kids In Need Foundation up to 200,000 products - pretty awesome, right?

If you don't have the chance to go scan the QR code, you can get it here and start taking photos today, helping reach the donation goal of 200,000 products.

Shopping

Shopping with four kids is always eventful, so I tried to minimize the distractions and head right to the back to school section. As soon as we hit our target everyone was telling me what they needed, had to have, and what they thought would make a good donation.

With my boys being older then my daughter, I know what their school and teachers tend to be short on throughout the year. Since I will be donating to a kindergarten teacher, lots of glue and crayons were a must. And although my Walmart didn't have all their stock out yet, there was certainly no shortage of Elmer's glue or crayons on the shelves.

Elmer's Glue At Walmart

Besides glue and crayons I also know that the school only uses composition books and prong folders, leaving them in short supply, in stores, toward the beginning of the school year. I knew the teacher would be grateful to have a few backups on hand for the kids without. And at just 15 cents a folder and 50 cents a composition book, you really could stock up.

The bin displays made it easy to find the must haves. Within the bins was a treasure trove of Elmer's glue sticks, for just 10 cents!

Sale Bins

While we were stocking up on glue, crayons, and folders, my daughter found a few other special items she thought would be a nice touch along with some glitter glue she was sure she needed!

#Bagitforward

All Set To Donate

Since the kids open house session will be coming up shortly, we bagged our donation and Princess G took to creating a special picture of her and her teacher to include within the bag.

Donation Bag It Forward Elmers

She is super excited to hand over her donations to the teacher on meet the teacher night along with her picture, of course.

For just $25, I was able to provide quality school supplies to a special teacher and her students, along with a second donation bag for my son's former teacher who means a great deal to us.

Please considered joining the Bag It Forward movement by donating to a local teacher, student or school in need this back-to-school season. For additional information on the campaign visit Bagitforward.org and check out Bag It Forward on Pinterest.

As always, keep up with Elmer's by visiting them on Facebook and Twitter.

Great idea for a campaign. Very nice to take some of the load off of the teachers who end up paying out-of-pocket sometimes for kid's lack of supplies.

this is so nice! My daughter just picked up extra also for school to send with my grandson. I said...what if parents cannot afford this huge list of supplies". If everyone helps, it will make a difference

This is such a nice program to be involved in. Having supplies are such a necessity. Our son's schools sends out lists of what each child needs and in small print at the bottom it says "the school will provide everything your child needs these are only suggestions"! Then need all the help they can get.

Love this. We donate a few backpacks of school supplies to needy elementary school kids every year through a program at our church. It's so great to hear about Elmer's program!
