The Great Life Insurance Debate

It seems we need insurance for just about everything these days. Funny enough, I still refuse to purchase life insurance.

Life Insurance

With four children, me and my husband really should invest. There is just something that has always creeped me out when it comes to preparing for the what ifs'. With each passing year I realize more and more, how fragile life is, and the need to make sure my family is taken care of, after my time - this doesn't mean I'm anymore comfortable with the topic though.

My mind got to wondering the other day even if I live a long, full filling life as we all plan, will there come a point where it will be up to one of my children to care for me? And if so which one will it be?! Now there is a scary thought...lol  All kidding aside, my thoughts really focused on how much of a burden will I be to them? And will they even be financially able to take of me....  is that really even their responsibly?

This got me actually looking into life insurance and different way policies work. When I came across lifeinsurance.org.uk it was nice to see everything laid out for me in simple terms. I had no idea there were different options and so many ways to make sure your family isn't left with a heavy burden.

There was so much for me to learn, like most policies have a clause making them payable immediately upon a terminal condition. This made me feel better about managing my affairs before hand should something unforeseen arise, which would also give my family the money they would need to help provide care, so it doesn't fall on their shoulders. I also thought the idea of "mortgage life insurance" which would insure my children a place  to live and peace of mind knowing the house was covered... god forbid

It's a heavy decision even though we know it's the right one. I guess I'm wondering how many are like me and push things like this off, because they are scared of the thought behind it. And how many of you are planners who have their families covered for whatever life tosses their way?

That was one of the first purchases we made when we had children.

Life insurance is something I've always felt strongly about. I have liked knowing that my family is protected if something happens to me!

Life insurance is so important. Losing your spouse would be devastating, you don't need to add to it by being in financial stress as well.

I think this happens to all of us but my daughter just purchased some more, of course we'd hope we don't need it for a long, long time but we should really look into the future. We just never know what could happen at any time.

We are in the process of quoting life insurance. I have some whole life policies I am converting to 20 yr term life. For $90 per month my husband and I will each have a $500,000 policy.

My parents bought some before they had either of us, and they have living wills. Both are extremely important. I don't have kids yet, but have a living will, and will purchase life insurance when I either get married and/or have children.

Life insurance is my small piece of mind. I hate the idea of leaving my children behind but without any means makes me feel even worse.

Unfortunately, too many people do not prepare at all for something that is inevitable, and that is our passing on or simply becoming too ill to care for ourselves. We also assume that our children will care and provide for us, not knowing whether or not their lives will allow them to do so. My mother works in a nursing home and I've heard or seen the horror stories.

I'm an insurance consultant, and my website is www.assuretyinc.com. I started this business to educate people about insurance and hopefully to get across that it's a necessity....not an option.

A life insurance coverage is definitely one of the best investments you can make for your family. You may resent having to pay a monthly premium but at least you can be sure that your family's financial security won't be compromised in the event of your death.
