If your a parent you are probably very familiar with the brand Step2. For me when I hear the name it immediately brings to mind quality, durability and creativity. It's important to me that toys I purchase be able to stand up to the test of time. Having four kids in different stages of development and play, it's really nice to be able to pass a toy down to the next child. Step2 is one of just a small handful of brands whose toys have not only supplied my kids with fun, creativity, and sparked their imaginations, but, lasted long enough for the next child to enjoy.
After getting settled into our new home, we were finally able to start collecting some quality outdoor products for the kids and I was thrilled with how much fun they had over the past year with the Step2 Countryside Cottage. New for spring this year Step2 has introduced the Step2 My Clubhouse a perfect partner to our cottage making the boys feel a bit more "at home" in it. I really love how versatile the clubhouse was perfect for my boys or my daughter, nobody was left out.
Arriving with some assembly required, we had originally decided to the Clubhouse in the playroom. So as my husband enjoyed some Sunday morning television as he sat in the middle of the living room and constructed the Step2 My Clubhouse. We have a few little issues in the past with the screw holes not all the way being poked through requiring use of a power drill as opposed to a screw driver. However, construction of the My Clubhouse was rather simple and we made it through with nothing more then a screw driver.
The hard part was when we realized we didn't want it in the middle of the living room and hadn't started converting or garage into a playroom yet (duh) so we would need to move it outside. It was too big for the door frame and we had to take the sliders off the track to get it out. I suggest assembling where you will be keeping the Clubhouse.
The kids were over the moon with their new clubhouse, with so many little features it kept all my kids occupied! The Step2 My Clubhouse features, peephole, chalkboard, picnic table and secret hiding compartment. The sticker above the door can be personalized by writing your child's name upon it. Since all my kids claimed the Clubhouse as their own (yes, even my older boys) I left it blank.
The side wall opens up creating a second entrance or a fence - at least that is what my daughter calls it ;-) Unlike, other Step2 playhouses this one has a fabric roof as opposed to a hard plastic. The fabric roof is said to be weather resistant. We have had a few nasty storms pass though and so far the roof has held up very well.
The picnic table area and the chalkboard are the two features my children enjoy most. We have had a quick lunch out there twice this week, per their request.
Overall, this is a great clubhouse for boys, girls and multiple child play. It has plenty of little features to keep everyone occupied and using their imagination. The Clubhouse is also a great size that would work well indoor as well as out.
