At the start of the game you are given a brief cut-scene which explains it all. A man trips over his shoe lace, sending his Sour Patch Kids and popcorn flying. A handful of Sour Patch Kids become deserted ending up in the dumpster when your character and friends make their great escape in search of a belly to rest in.
There were certain aspects that reminded me of games like Little Big Planet ( without the upgraded graphics) you can throw your gummy friends at objects and more, as you proceed through the game. You can collect other "sweet" gummy friends that have been lost along the way on your travels and even fight some of your friends turned "sour." When you have collected enough sour gummy friends you can increase your size making you harder to defeat.
Gameplay is pretty basic, there aren't many different moves or enemies. Your traveling throughout theaters litter with junk as well as bedrooms and such. Most enemies look like wads of gum which have come to life to get in your way - defeat them by bouncing on their heads. As you move along you will gain simple moves like a charging roll and at times can fling your friends at enemies and bosses. All and all it's pretty basic and each level is pretty much the same. You have to jump across hot grills, shoot through "canons" and avoid the traps.
My kids do play this game, but there is some bad language by the narrator, who helps you navigate your way through each level. This surprised me, only because I expected something a little different from this title, but hey, I guess Sour Patch Kids are known to be sweet and sour, right? You can play in both single player and multi player mode. Be sure to keep up with your "teammate" if they travel ahead you will be teleported to the next spot, should one of you die, you will be resurrected when your partner reaches the next checkpoint.
