I often find myself debating the issue of online shopping, which is amazing to me, since I thought that was the way most people made their purchases in this day and age. So I'm curious.. Do your make purchases online, pay bills etc or do shop in store only and pay bills via mail? If your an in-store, by mail type of person, is it just a preference or do you fear giving your credit card information online?
Choosing a online payment option has been a life saver for someone like me - four kids, has never driven a day in her life. The Internet has really become a necessary evil. I have had my share of issues though, in fact my debit card has been compromised a handful of times. Luckily, we know money, our money, and realized quickly something was wrong. My bank is wonderful and have always fully refunded me and cleared up the issues, but really I have no way of knowing if my info was found online or captured from a swipe at the local Walmart. How many times do you hear on the news a companies files have been hacked and your information has been put in jeopardy.
However you choose to shop or pay your bills, I think it's all about checking your accounts often. I love to spend all over the net, but, I also monitor my credit and bank cards very closely and immediately report anything suspicious. Heck, I even reported myself one time..lol. Yes, I forgot about a recurring payment. Again, I have to give credit to my bank for giving me time to double check and suggesting to me maybe I forgot about something. I decided to take a day before filing a report, did a little digging online and sure enough it was a yearly payment for some online games! I certainly didn't need to be wasting money on online games and was able to cancel and get a full refund - it's worth checking into everything.
I guess, like with everything else, it's just a matter of preference. Just curious how you prefer to shop and or pay bills?
