Alvin And The Chipmunks Chipwrecked Now Available

When browsing through my friends pics on varies social media sites, I saw a common theme among their Easter Baskets this year, The Chipwrecked DVD! ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED, debuted on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download on March 27 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

Synopsis:
The Chipmunks, Chipettes and their caretaker Dave Seville (Jason Lee; “My Name is Earl”) embark on a trip of a lifetime aboard the Carnival Dream cruise ship. Seeking fun and excitement, the Chipmunks turn the luxury cruise liner into their own personal playground. But the ultimate vacation quickly becomes a disaster when the Chipmunks, Dave and Carnival cruise pelican mascot, who turns out to be the chipmunks’ old manager, Ian Hawke (David Cross; Megamind), accidentally fall overboard and find themselves ‘chipwrecked’ on a remote island. Stuck in an unfamiliar territory, the six furry castaways are separated from Dave and must figure out a way to survive on their own for the first time in their lives.

Our Take:  This latest installment was pretty much just what I expected from the “series.” It’s the perfect film for family movie night, including laughs for the kids and just enough pop culture references to have the adults ( or my husband) on their toes pointing out where the line or song came from. Packed of course, with plenty of singing and dancing, it certainly kept the kids entertained throughout. Compared to the previous films the story line was a bit of the same – The Chipmunks are on their way with Dave and the Chipettes to the International Music Awards via a cruse liner, where Alvin starts with his usual antics. Former manager Ian Hawk shows up and tries his best to get them kicked off the ship. Low and behold the Chipmunks wind up stranding themselves upon a desert Island, while Dave and a surprising companion desperately try to find them.

The kids have watched this multiple times and really seem to get into the musical scenes. As for myself, I will always prefer the first movie, this one lacked some of the laughs I was used to. However, it certainly was worth the enjoyment it brought and is still bringing my kids.

Buy It: Available now on DVD and Blu-ray where videos are sold.

It's fun that I get to share movies like this with my son as I used to watch Alvin and the Chipmucks cartoons as a kid.
