Every Mother’s Day I find myself struggling to find the perfect something for my Mother, as well as my Mother-in-law. I think some people “have it” when it comes to gift giving and some people don’t. I am definitely, someone who does not have it. It seems like every time a holiday approaches I get that panicked feeling, worry what to get this person or that person. I’ve tried to eliminated some stress by figuring out what I can buy that I can add to in the future. Now, I realize, that may not make a whole lot of sense, so let me explain.
As I said, Mother’s Day is one of those times I struggle with what to get Mom. Last year, I decided instead of fresh flowers, I would get my Mother a rose bush. This way, she has her favorite flowers fresh year round. Now each year for Mother’s Day, I will purchase a new rose bush in a different color adding to her "collection." I tried to put in place the same system for Christmas by starting her on a collection of Snow Babies.
Since my Mother-in-law is in a different state and has been for the past five years or so, we struggle the most with gifts for her, simply because we have no idea what she needs, already has or wants. For her I go with flowers by Interflora. They have so many beautiful options from Mother’s Day bouquets, to indoor plants, and even nice gift baskets. Usually, I find a pretty Mother Day bouquet and send it along with a nice gift basket like the" Mum’s Tower Of Treats" Basket.
I really shouldn’t worry so much because any Mom knows she’ll love whatever her child gets her… I know I have never been disappointed in a handmade card or a flower picked from my own garden. What I do know they may find disappointing is when I order to late because I to busy stressing about what to buy. Yes, I do this often – shame on me! Fortunately, Interflora has next day delivery services and if I still don’t make it in time, I guess I can always say this year I thought we had decided to celebrate International Mothers Day - which falls on May 13th ;-)
