This Friday, my boys went to stay at their Nanny and Pops, which left me, my husband and daughter all alone for the night. I typically try to find easy meal solutions on Friday nights, but when my boys aren’t home, I really slack. I thought this night would be the perfect time to surprise my husband with a meal that actually tastes great, yet is still super simple for me – Shh, don’t tell!
So what kind of meal am I talking about? Why new Bertolli Frozen Soups of course!
I've had Bertolli frozen meals plenty of times in the past. When I was working, I would get home at around 11pm. My "go to meal" for something quick, filling and delicious before I hit the sack, was usually a Bertolli meal. Bertolli frozen soups however, were totally new to me, in fact frozen soup in general was new to me.
Bertolli frozen soups are hearty and fresh-tasting with vegetables, meats, pasta and herbs individually flash frozen at the peak of freshness. They take just minutes to prepare, yet taste like you’ve been in the kitchen all day long. There are four varieties of these delicious soups – we choose the Tomato Florentine & Tortellini with Chicken.
At around 5pm my husband started grumbling he was hungry. Fortunately for me, he wasn’t paying much attention to what I was or was not doing in the kitchen, since he was wrapped up in video games. I quickly grabbed two packages of Bertolli Soup straight out of my freezer and emptied them into a pot, adding only a cup of water per bag.
The soup quickly began to “melt” into a rich broth, loaded with chunks of chicken, spinach, tomato and my favorite… cheese tortellini.
I set up our dishes, glasses of wine and side of Italian bread and called the hubby into the kitchen. He was in shock that dinner was done so quickly – little did he know it took me only about 15 minutes from start to finish.
We were both really amazed by the taste. He described it as a rich tomato soup. I hate traditional tomato soup and absolutely loved the Bertolli Tomato Florentine & Tortellini with Chicken. On that one I guess me and him will have to agree to disagree. In either case we both loved it! When dinner was through I pulled at the Bertolli frozen soup bag from the garbage and showed my husband. He was amazed because in his words... the soup was amazingly fresh and full of flavor
Bertolli Frozen Soup meals are said to serve 2 per bag. I made 2 bags and put the leftovers in the fridge for when my boys returned home. My boys love soup, so I was anxious to hear what they thought about the Bertolli Soup. Just as I thought, they ate every drop and complained that there was no more. And remember this is after it’s been reheated and left in the fridge overnight.
I found this soup to be a delicious time saver when I needed a meal in a pinch. The soup being frozen made no sacrifice in flavor, if anything the flavor was richer then most canned soups. Severed with some bread, it was super filling and a great option for a quick meal.
Buy It: Bertolli Frozen Soups are located in your grocers freezer section. They are more pricey then traditional soups, especially when we would need about three bags to feed a family of six, and still have the option of seconds. However, for us it is still cheaper then what I spend typically, on a nightly meal. Oh, and the taste and convenience is certainly worth it!
