Living with children, a humidifier became a must with all the colds and respiratory bugs they would pick up. The longer we used a humidifier for the more I started to see the benefit in using one myself.

There are two main types of humidifiers cool and warm, both preforming basically the same function which a few differences that break down to your preference. Cool mist humidifiers tend to make the air cool, as warm mist humidifiers make the air warmer. Depending on the time of year you may prefer one over the other. Also warm steam humidifiers allow you to add certain medication, but remember they use hot steam and heating elements which you may not want in your child's room. This is why I have always opted for cool mist.

Honeywell sent us the Honeywell Easy-to-Care Cool Moisture Humidifier. The humidifier is designed to silently provide visible cool moisture to the air and are a effective way to humidify your home and relieve congestion, dry throats and skin. Really a great product in the winter months when the dry indoor heating causes all kinds of sinus issues ( at least for me).

The Easy-to-Care for Cool Moisture Humidifier is perfect for someone like me with not a ton of time on their hands. You fill the unit with water directly from the top, there are no filters to replace, and my favorite feature is that it is dishwasher safe. That's right with it's removable parts I can let my dishwasher do the dirty part and the outside of the unit can also be easily wiped down.

It also runs quietly so it's great for a small to medium sized child's room. I will note though that I think the pump needed time to warm-up. The first time I ran the unit it was noisy for about 15 minutes and then suddenly went silent. It's worked like a dream ever since.
