Holiday Guide: Step2 Deluxe Art Master Desk - Bring Out Your Child's Creative Side

After four kids I have quickly learned what toys are built to last and which ones find themselves in the trash within a week. I couldn't let my gift guide pass with featuring some great items from Step2. The reason I wanted to make sure Step2 was on my holiday guide is because they hold a top spot with this Mom for durability and creativity.

Each year for Christmas my kids are guaranteed to find at least one gift by Step2 under the tree. This is probably the gift I put the most thought into because I know it will be with us for a long time to come.

Pretend and creative play are really important to me, in this age overrun by technology. I like to provide my kids with balance, kids have a natural need to engage their imagination and express their creative side. I love what Step2 can bring out in my children, whether their outdoors in their playhouse or cooking up something in their play kitchen - With Step2 anythings possible.

This year my daughter has really become creative. She absolutely loves to draw, I wanted to embrace this and help nurture the creative side in her. She really amazes me sometimes with the creations she comes up with. As soon as I seen the Step2 Deluxe Art Master Desk I knew it would make the perfect gift and give her her own space to play, learn and create.

First things first, this desk is made by Step2 and I know I can count on Step2 for quality that lasts. I went to work on constructing the desk in the garage to give myself enough space, the night it arrived. The pieces were bulky, there didn't seem to be to much to it, to confuse me during set up.

I was right, set up was pretty basic. The only issue I encountered was that the holes were not pre-drilled so you must have a power drill available for screwing it together. I would have never been able to screw the ends together without one. Also the backside of the chair required a bit of muscle from my husband to snap together.

Once it was constructed we could take an up close look at all the features first hand. Starting from the ground up you have storage on both sides of the desk perfect for holding coloring books, drawing books, etc. The top of the art desk features a large work surface with a hinged dry erase board. This area lifts up for additional storage.

You also have molded areas for art supplies as well a raised art supply shelf perfect for markers and even a working light! * The light requires two "AAA" batteries

Of course no desk would be complete with out a chair. The chair features a blue contoured back and stable base. The whole set is durable poly which of course wipes clean. Wipe clean surfaces are always a must in this house.
