Giveaway - Goosie Personalized Flashcards

My daughter should have started Pre-K this year. However I'm sure you noticed the big fat "should have" in that sentence. The reason she did not start was really for a selfish reason. In eleven years I haven't been home without one of my kids. When she starts school next year I don't know what I am going to do with myself. I do realize though since I didn't send her to Pre-K this year I really need to step up the home learning.

I have always been a big fan of flashcards. They helped alot with my boys. When I was approached by Goosie Cards for a review, I knew these would be a wonderful teaching aid.

Goosie Cards are personalized flashcards that you create with your personal photos and text to teach your child about the world around them. Goosiecards.com turns your personal photos into flashcards so you can teach your child about the faces and places they know best…because they are all about you and your family. You can create personalized flashcards to teach, play or to help with special needs.

I had so many ideas on how to use these cards it was hard for me to settle on a single idea. I finally realized I could always order more, so lets start with the basics. My daughter is almost set with her letters with the occasional mix up but, we are working really hard to get those letter sounds down. I ordered a set of Goosie Cards using pictures she personally picked out from our online album and matched them to beginning sounds/letters.

Ordering was very simple. The cards are created via Walgreen's photo lab and sent directly to you. You start by choosing between the Signature and the Everyday Collection ( the main difference in the two being card thickness) then select the photos for each card and finally you can add up to 5 lines of custom text to each card, with the option of having them hole punched as well.

Goosiecards.com also provides parents with great flashcard ideas and free photos as well as teaching tips and helpful guides:
  • Tips: How to teach with Goosie Cards
  • Speech Development Chart: Helps parents observe their child’s speech and language "milestones”
  • Visual aid therapy: The benefits for autism, speech therapy, behavioral problems, sequence events, memory jogger
  • Ableplay™ ratings: Helps parents determine the appropriateness for children with communicative, cognitive, physical and sensory special needs

The cards were of great quality and brought a whole new dimension to traditional flashcards. My daughter was much more "into" them since all the photos were of familiar items and faces. It also helped alot that she had a hand in creating them.

Buy It: Purchase Goosie Cards for $1.99-$2.79 a card.

Win It: One lucky reader will win a set of 10 Goosie Cards that you can personalize to your liking.

I like the idea on the website for their own abcs - I'd like to have ones with our pets and family members, and maybe familiar items. I love this idea, and would love these for my baby.
