I'm always looking for extra references to have around to enhance my children's learning experiences as well as possibly help with school assignments. What would be a better reference then an almanac for kids? In May, the fully updated and highly anticipated 2012 edition of the National Geographic Kids Almanac, hit the shelves!
The National Geographic Kids Almanac is jam packed with popular subjects like amazing animals, cool inventions, world cultures, science, sports, technology, history and more. It also features some really great world maps featuring separate maps for continents, fact about countries and each state. This truly is a wonderful reference guide made fun for children.
The 2012 Almanac not only has some simple features like color coded "tabs" separating topics but this year tops all kids almanacs by introducing a new mobile media feature, making it the only interactive kids’ almanac! What does this mean? Now, for the first time, at the beginning of each chapter kids will find a code they can scan with a smart phone that will give them access to extra content, including video, fun facts, games and slide shows. Throughout the book, a virtual pet, Zipper the dog, alerts readers to cool clicks and Web links to help kids learn even more.
This will be great to have around next school year, with homework help section, project ideas, and great features like:

I'm telling you your kids will enjoy this book, even if it's for the more than 500 incredible photos. My boys were checking out the Dinosaur section for quite sometime last night!
