Last week our kitchen set gave way, in the form of one of the chair tumbling to the ground breaking beyond repair. My husband didn't think it was a big deal his solution was, that we should just put the dining room table in the kitchen since we don't use it anyway.
This however did not work for me! It's a large square dining table, that would be much to big for the kitchen. I need a table that would not take up to much space, has a nice look and will still seat all the kids.
I have always wanted one of those kitchen tables that rests in the corner and has the nice benches, like this one...
I absolutely love them, but since I have no corner in the kitchen to place it, I will have to stick with finding more traditional dining tables. We are in a semi rush to find something, as I hate to have the kids eat anyplace but the kitchen. Since we are down a chair and have a second that is on it's last leg, the kids have taking to my dining room. It's only a matter of time before the first drink splatters on my carpet. I can feel it!
I'm stuck though, there are a lot of simple tables like this one...
that would work out just fine. I'm just not sure if I want to go with a six person seating set, and eliminate my dining room all together. We don't host holiday gatherings often and I could think of so many better uses. We also have a kitchen bar type set up that we frequently eat at as well. I mean how many places does one need to eat?
What do you think? Do you use your dining room often? Would you rather a small kitchen table and the optional use of a dining room? Or more "living space" and a larger kitchen set?
