Dining Furniture - To Keep It Or Not....?

Every time I think I am almost done with home furnishings something else breaks or needs to be replaced, never fails!

Last week our kitchen set gave way, in the form of one of the chair tumbling to the ground breaking beyond repair. My husband didn't think it was a big deal his solution was, that we should just put the dining room table in the kitchen since we don't use it anyway.

This however did not work for me! It's a large square dining table, that would be much to big for the kitchen. I need a table that would not take up to much space, has a nice look and will still seat all the kids.

I have always wanted one of those kitchen tables that rests in the corner and has the nice benches, like this one...

I absolutely love them, but since I have no corner in the kitchen to place it, I will have to stick with finding more traditional dining tables. We are in a semi rush to find something, as I hate to have the kids eat anyplace but the kitchen. Since we are down a chair and have a second that is on it's last leg, the kids  have taking to my dining room. It's only a matter of time before the first drink splatters on my carpet. I can feel it!

I'm stuck though, there are a lot of simple tables like this one...

that would work out just fine. I'm just not sure if I want to go with a six person seating set, and eliminate my dining room all together. We don't host holiday gatherings often and I could think of so many better uses. We also have a kitchen bar type set up that we frequently eat at as well. I mean how many places does one need to eat?

What do you think? Do you use your dining room often? Would you rather a small kitchen table and the optional use of a dining room? Or more "living space" and a larger kitchen set?

KidlandiaI was compensated for this post however all opinions are 100% mine.

My house sucks. Our kitchen is too small for a table & chairs but we don't have a dining room. :(

My parents house is a tiny kitchen but a nice dining space.

I just like lots of counter space! But I can create that wth the right furniture if I had room for it.

Ok, I got an error message the first time I tried to post this so I hope it doesn't go twice! That's a tough one..I also love the corner tables with benches but don't have a corner to put them in. We don't have a dining room at all. I personally would prefer a smaller kitchen table (as opposed to a too-big one) and more space to walk in the kitchen. Our kids like to run around the table so we need space! I hope you can find what works for you!

I have always wanted a corner table but like you have no corner to put it :(

We've got a nook like area that I have trouble making a table work in. That smaller one might actually do the trick. How did you know I was looking!

Thanks for the share!

I don't have a dining room so nope I never use it. We have a kitchen table that is a rectangle when it's small and a big square when it's full sized. I love having a suqare table for family dinners!
My table seats 8 but I can squeeze in an extra kid on each side seating 12. There is tons of room in the middle for all the food so it doesn't feel as crowded. Good luck on your quest to find a new table.

Our dining room is now our toy room. We don't have a dining room table and I like my family room and living room to be clutter free or at least I try to keep it that way. This works for our family good luck with your decision. BTW I am your newest follower from MBC followers club. Please come follow me at www.funfrugalmommy.blogspot.com

I use my dining room table pretty often as my kitchen table only seats four. So, any company, holiday meals, buffet style get togethers or homeschooling is done at the dining room table. But I still think the corner table is pretty cool.

they both are nice, but I think I like the round one best, the other one kinda reminds me of a booth at Pizza Hut
