When I told people I was going to start the RevAbs challenge people looked at me, as if I was crazy. I got "you don't need to lose weight". I want to make something clear in my opinion exercise and being fit has nothing to do with weight, in some cases. Someone who is thin, isn't always in shape or healthy. I have been thin my whole life, I've had four children and the most I ever gained when pregnant was 13lbs. Most people say how lucky I am, what they don't realize is how nonphysically fit and unhealthy I really am.
I can't bounce on my trampoline with my kids or run around because I am breathless and in pain in a matter of minutes. Some of you may have seen my Wordless Wednesday post on my adventures with the Slip N Slide..Three times down the slide and my ribs were bruised and stomach in pain for the next two days. I have always wanted to be fit, to be healthy, to eat right instead of consuming large amounts of fast food, and whatever else that I could get in my mouth "quick". I want to play with my kids, with out laying in bed the next day because my legs hurt so bad from running around with them for 10 minutes in the yard. See I may not be over weight, but I have NO muscle tone (never did), no energy, and am certainly not fit!
With that said I was excited to get up and get motivated with RevAbs and Brett Horbel. Why RebAbs? Well being a part of the Beachbody collection I knew RevAbs and Brett would push me to get going. My other issue is that whatever weight I do gain, goes right to my belly and thigh area. I have tried over and over to tone these areas but I have yet to find a program that works or the motivation. So it's been five days since my first workout, which range in average from 45 minutes to the 15 minute Mercy Abs. Surely we can make time this daily, right?
As much as I really hate to admit to this day one and two was rough on my body. I was VERY proud that I was able to make it through ( here comes my embarrassment) but I actually teared up and almost cried by the end of day two, I was hurting. This was the most workout my body has got in a very long time. I was sore, all my muscles were sore. I wasn't just working my Abs but my thighs, calves, arms heck even my butt hurt ( is there a more technical term for the butt..lol).
This was the first time however that this hurt felt good, I knew I was making a change and each day has got just a bit easier for me. I will also admit I am and have decided to for the first two weeks, follow the modified routine, since I am not in the best shape.
Brett's exercises are divided into a more advanced routine and then there is always someone in the back to follow doing a slightly easier version. I also appreciate that about RevAbs. Brett pushes you but lets you know, if you can't keep up with him, it is OK to try the modified version for a little while and it's OK to stop if you need water or aren't feeling 100%.
RevAbs is a workout you CAN do. Don't get me wrong it is not a joke, you will feel that burn and you will be sweating at the end. I DO NOT sweat, really I don't! My shirt was actually soaked through in some areas, I was truly amazed.
I want to make mention of the bonus gift I received as well. Shakeology jammed pack with all the vitamins and nutrition my body is really lacking packed into a tasty chocolate or fruit shake. I received the chocolate. After reading everything in it, even though all healthy, I was very hesitant about actually drinking it. I mean how good could it taste?! Let me tell you pretty darn good. Well I am very excited to share my journey with you over the next 90 days ( or 85 days). Though I'm not in it from an extreme weight loss prospective, I am in it for a lifestyle change, for my health, my children and maybe dare I say to finally some muscle tone! In parting for this week I guess I should supply my starting "stats" and before photo.
