I along with my children had the opportunity to review these amazing new learning blocks known as Smarcks. Besides being a fun stacking block Smarcks are unique because they include talking Blocks which help teach your child:
We received a 70Pc Set and 12 talking Smarcks. Each one doing something unique, like teaching to count, ABC's, Music, Nursery Rhymes, Colors, Shapes and Math. Along with the Talking Smarks were 70 blocks to build and create puzzles while unleashing the "powers" of the talking Smarks.
It simple for you and your child to tell the difference between Smarcks and the regular building blocks because the Talking Blocks have different faces. You will also notice the "regular" blocks have specific shapes, patterns or numbers on top of them. These patterns work in conjunction with the talking blocks. Take the counting or math block for example, when placed on top of a number block, the talking block recognizes the block and will tell you child it has been placed on a 4 block or ask the child to tell it which numbers are on the block it was placed on. Each Talking Smarck holds it's own unique skill.

The creator of Smarcks also has a very informative blog that tracks his progress and learning ideas with his own children. He recently introduced a ABC chart to help kids with identifying letters and spelling. You can download this chart as well off his blog and read up on what tips and tricks have worked for him and his children.
My daughter has been spending the most amount of time with these block. She loves to make them interact and I am at the point of moving on to the next step. I took a few weeks to just let her get acquainted with the Smarcks, until she progressed to understanding how to get each set of blocks to interact with the correct Smarck.
This week I have taking all her Talking blocks away except for her color blocks..She is pretty good with colors already but once she has them down we will move on to ABC's. I don't want to overwhelm her all at once. We have a lot of free time together while my sons are at school so Smarcks really are a creative and fun way to start preparing her for school. They also are great for my youngest son who has been having some issues with spelling. When my daughter goes to bed at night I switch my focus to him and the ABC block.
These blocks also come with a container that I just love! Sturdy and large enough to hold all our Smarcks and it promotes easy clean up which Mommy just LOVES! The Smarks themselves are durable and made of a heavier plastic, then my children's regular block sets. I can see these standing the test of time. Oh and I almost forgot a cute little feature, Smarcks Puzzle Secret. You can unlock the puzzle of Smarcks! Each Smarck works because when you attach it to a building block the buttons inside the special talking blocks are depressed, all but one that is. By using your figure you can depress the one button that is not depressed by placing it on top of another block and unleash this Smarcks ticklish Spot ( my daughter LOVED this). If you find it's "ticklish" spot the block laughs and giggles.
