We received for review Lost Puppies, Hoot Owl Hoot and Stone Soup. Each of these games is a cooperative game. Unlike traditional games where there is one winner and one losers, with cooperative games the players work together against a common obstacle, not against each other. Cooperative games create a feeling of community organically, and build healthy relationships as they encourage kids to help one another. Kids learn to work and play together in respectful and compassionate ways. They learn to share, make decisions together, and trust one another. If the game is lost, the defeat is shared equally among the players. And, if the game is won, everyone is a winner!
Hoot Owl Hoot is recommended for ages 4 and up, with game play approx. 15 minutes. There is no reading required. The object of the game is move all the owls from start to the nest before the sun rises. Players take turns, but work together. Hoot Owl Hoot teaches, color matching, simple strategy, following directions, social development and of course cooperation.
Lost Puppies is my kids favorite. This game is recommended for ages 5 and up, for 2 to 6 player with game play lasting about 20 minutes.
The object of the game is to find and bring home all of the lost puppies before night falls. This game is simple enough for my 3 year old to grasp yet fun enough that my older children are engaged and want to play as well. Lost Puppies teaches, strategy, problem solving, linear thinking, following directions, social development and once again, of course cooperation!
Lastly we reviewed Stone Soup. Stone Soup is for children ages 5 and up, for 2-6 players and game play last about 15 minutes. As with the previous two game this game also requires no reading, great for children in Preschool or Kindergarten that have trouble playing typical games. The object of Stone soup is for players work together to “cook” a soup by making matches of ingredients. Match all of the ingredients before the fire under the kettle goes out and everyone wins! Perfect for teaching Memory, social development, Helping other and......Cooperation!!!!
