2PBB-Step2 Countryside Cottage Review

I may be a little bias in my post, since with four children, I have always been a huge fan of Step2. All their products have made it through the wear and tear of children and stood the test of time. There isn't a negative thing that comes to mind when I think Step2.

With that we were really excited to have the opportunity to review the Step2 Countryside cottage, since this was a first major outdoor product from Step2. Up until about 1.5 years ago we had been renters. I was always worried about making "big" backyard purchase due to the fact I knew one day we would have to figure out how to transport it on to the next house.
When we received the Cottage I realized how much I let my kids miss out on. I will get back to that, statement.

It arrived in a rather large box, I was able to bring the box to the backyard on my own though. I knew my daughter wouldn't want to waste know time in getting it together. So I wanted it ready and waiting when my husband arrived home ;)

Setup took him maybe ten minutes. I was really impressed with how simple it was. If I would have realized I may have attempted it myself. I'm trying to think of any issues he had with set up but again nothing comes to mind. It went pretty quick and required only the use of a Philips screwdriver (large and small) and triple A batteries for the phone and door bell.

So we were all set up and the kids were ready to play. Both my husband and I watched our daughter for over an hour, bring a smile to our faces. I was so impressed with the imagination the Step2 Countryside Cottage brought out in her. She was fighting off her alien brothers from the outside, she was making breakfast on her little stove set up and feeding her "friends". You were NOT allowed to enter without first ringing the doorbell, she won't even enter without ringing the doorbell...lol

I had said I felt like my kids missed out, by me steering away from these purchases before we owned a home. What I meant by that was, I feel I missed out on bringing out all that imagination that I seen sparked from the second my daughter enter her cottage. The same goes for my boys who all of the sudden were delivery men, delivering her mail, those evil aliens trying to break into her home ( boys, will be boys). Sitting outside watch the creativity stirred up by four little imaginations and one Countryside Cottage was a million times better for me then watching them veg out in front of the T.V, with a video game or favorite cartoon on repeat 6 million times! Don't get me wrong there is a time for that ...But  know greater joy has yet to be brought to my face ( or my husbands) then listening to them play in their cottage and come up with all these "scenarios"

I don't want to get carried away with how much fun I had watching them play and forget about all the adorable features! Like the portable phone which hangs from the wall making really noises. My daughter called a few "friends" to tell them about her new home and too come over ;). The doorbell as I mentioned also actually rings. I actually thought my door bell was ringing quit a few times! Everyone thinks it's funny to see me rush in the house to realize it's not for me.. someone is visiting my daughter..lol. With a pretend chimney, fireplace, bookshelves, window cut out, and open a close door the Step2 Countryside Cottager lived up to all my expectations! Oh and it is even equipped with a planter outside. I promised her next weekend we would go get some soil and a flat of annuals for her to plant.

Now all that's left is for the children to enjoy themselves, and me to stand back with a smile, and see not only how creative and imaginative my children can be but also see that Step2 logo looking back at me. So I can trust that I have many more years of Step2 durability a head of me and many years of creative play a head for my children.
