Your Holiday Traditions...

Sometimes I feel out of the norm because we don't have anything I consider a "real" Holiday tradition. We do the expected stuff, give PJ's Christmas eve, Make cookies for Santa and leave him a big glass of milk. We buy a special ornament every year to remind us of the year past. Which are always fun to look at through out the years.

To me though these don't seem like traditions compared to what I have heard from others. What do your traditions include? I would love to start a real family tradition but as silly as it sounds I don't know where to start. I would love to know what your families traditions are whether traditional or non traditional.

We do a pickle. I think is was part of the german culture and has been done in my family forever!

We have a pickle ornament and the parents would hide it in the tree, and christmas day, Who ever found it got an extra special gift!

Well with haveing more then one kids, This arose problems, so my parents would always have a back up gifts. It's just the winner got their gift first! lol

We loved it, Fun hunting for gifts!
When the kids get older it would be fun to hide gifts around the house and make the work for them!

Also mix oats and sparkles and sprinkle it in the yard for santas reindeer.

The oats for them to eat and the sparkle so they would see it from flying. lol

We have more! Those are not every ONES I guess!

My hubby and I just blended our families a couple of years ago when we married. We still are lacking that tradition but figure one will show up some day.

We spend Christmas Eve with my family; Christmas Day with my husband's.

My mom has started reading a Christmas story to her grandkids (my two daughters and my niece and nephew)... one year it was "The Night Before Christmas", another year it was "The Crippled Lamb".

Same stockings every year go up, pick a new ornament every year for the following year, cookies for Santa, pjs on Christmas Eve... and ... a HUGE dinner on Christmas... so huge that we all get sick from stuffing our faces. :) Following you from Bloggy moms. Our Christmas is steeped in traditions..Christmas Eve the kids reenact the nativity, we serve a big dinner with a huge dessert table, sing carols, tell Christmas stories and send everyone to bed early enough that Santa can get to bed at a somewhat decent hour! I usually get them new coloring books and crayons and a new game to play in their rooms while they wait for Christmas morning!
