Welcome to Santa's Hot list kick off! I have for you today an great gift for children designed for children ages 1-5, The Strider Pre-Bike.
I'm so disappointed I never got the chance to start my boys off on a PREbike. Do you know my ten year old just finally mastered riding a two wheeler this year! My other two sons are still with training wheels, yet my 3 year old daughter is on her way to mastering a two wheeler thanks to Strider PREbikes.
Strider Prebikes are designed to stop limitations put on your child by traditional bikes. I never realized that training wheels are actually preventing your child from learning to ride a two wheeler and finding their balance.
With Strider bikes their are no pedals, training wheels and no steering limitations. It's all about learning to balance and ride. After all you must learn to balance yourself on a bike before you can ride it, right? Some of you, like myself might think the idea of no pedals in strange, but like I just mentioned the hardest part of riding a bike is learning to balance. Now combine learning to balance with quickly getting your feet on the pedals to start pedaling, and that usually results in a crash, which promotes fear. With Strider their feet can be firmly planted on the ground. As they start off "walking" with the bike and as confidants grows they push off, place their feet on the footrest and go... If they start to feel unstable there is nothing in the way to prevent those little feet from hitting the ground and re gaining control.
"The Strider PREbike is lightweight, easy to control and features an adjustable seat and handlebars to accommodate a growing child. Most importantly, the Strider teaches your child balance, coordination and develops glittering confidence.
And the Strider is steady, stable and safe. At the first feeling of instability, your child will instinctively place his feet securely on the ground. So there are no "tricycle tip-overs" or "training-wheel wobbles" that stir-up a fear, hesitancy, or dislike of bike riding."
I was so excited to get Gianna ready to ride when the bike arrived. My husband put the bike together in not even ten minutes. I new Gianna would do great because she doesn't have that natural fear my boys had at her age. I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing. It took her a couple of days to grasp the concept of putting her feet up but I'd say after week one she was good to go.
I thought being that the PREbike was so light weight and wasn't set up with typical pedals that this would only be good for use in the road or driveway. I didn't think she would be able to drive around the yard with her brothers. Little did I realize Strider PREbikes tires are puncture resistant and great for
off-road adventures including hiking and MTB trails, BMX tracks, and dirt jump parks. Which is actually something they can't do or mobility is restricted when doing with a trike or 2 wheeler w/ training wheels.
Strider was also nice enough to send a extra seat. The Strider™ 305mm Extra-Long Seat post with Saddle
For older children (4+ years old), we offer an optional 305mm length seatpost with a pre-mounted saddle. This seatpost extends the saddle height another 3" to a maximum of 19" from the ground. Which is great for my youngest son however he will only give it a shot in the garage because it is Pink...Guess I should have thought about that. But as a Mom of a few kids I know how important it is for products to grow with your children so the fact that Strider also offers this seat is a plus in my book as well.
The founder of Strider Sport ( Ryan McFarland ) really explains well in this video why the PREbike is a better teaching tool for your child. Please take a minute to check it out I promise you will be impressed by how simple it is for your child to ride.
Buy It: You can purchase the Strider PREbike and accessories online Strider Bike sells for 99.00 and the optional Extra-Long Seatpost with Saddle for $10.00.
